Just One Squash...Priceless!

This is the one and only fruit of our laborious labor. As you can see, there's many blossoms, but the fruit of those blooms? Not so much. I just read an article in our paper about farmer's markets and it reported that unless a stand sells at least $1500 worth of produce for the day, it isn't worth their time, let alone their effort to participate.

Anyone want to buy a $1500 squash*?

At least the foliage is big and beautiful...

*P. S. Had the squash for dinner tonight and it was delicious!
Worth every one of those $15oo's worth of penny's!

Yum! Just like my tomato plants. Giant, beautiful plants with giant, beautiful GREEN tomatoes. A month late so far. I really think I'll be getting them by the end of the week at an explosive rate, but still waiting at the moment.

Let's hear it for the farmers! Can you multiply that by acres and acres...so much work and such unpredictable results!

Love squash, but I really love to see a garden with LOTS of greenery. Forget about the fruit.

$1500!!!
Or "it's not worth their time."
Now I know why the prices seem so high at the local farmers market that I go to.

Our farmer's market is kind of the opposite. The produce just doesn't look that good. But they bring it to market hoping someone will love it!
Your squash was sure purty!

As bad a gardener that I am I'm always excited about the one little bloom! To show you how little I know...do you have to plant new seeds/plants every year or will this plant produce again?
I'm glad you enjoyed the fruit of your labor...

Hehehe... that made me me laugh. I'd still have some if the hubby had not thought they were weeds. He sprayed Round-Up on them. IN MY ORGANIC GARDEN. Sorry about yelling but I'm still trying to come to terms with this man who does things like this.
